Wow! 2019 was a really big year for the Cadillac Pathway, and we’re extremely excited about what 2020 has to offer.

A new year is a new beginning, but it’s also a great time to take a look back at what we’ve accomplished. Over the past 365 days, we’ve done a lot to improve the recreational experience of trail users on the Cadillac Pathway. We take pride in catering to as many user groups as possible, from winter cross-country-skiing to summer mountain biking, and everything we do is geared to make the Pathway an incredible resource for our community.

The most tangible evidence of that vision is the Pavilion.  From a sketch to reality, the entire project wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the local Cadillac Leadership, Cadillac Rotary, local donors, and local partners that understand the value of amenities that make a day in the woods even more enjoyable. With help from our local Boy Scouts, we even have a whole host of picnic tables that more than live up to the beauty of the structure itself! We can’t wait for all the memories we’ll make gathered around the fireplace, all year long.

Those perks are well-lit, too. We now have solar-powered lights in the parking lot, as well as a beautifully made bike and ski rack, plus a handy repair station. These aren’t creature comforts; these are vital infrastructure that makes a trip to the trailhead possible for so many people.

We also hosted another edition of the Bear Claw Epic, drawing hundreds of riders to the region for a fun day to support the trails. The Bear Claw Epic has grown into one of the most beloved mountain bike races in the state, drawing rave reviews for its organization, its course, and the wonderful volunteers who make it all happen.

Looking ahead to 2020, we’re planning on changing our focus from the parking lot to the woods. With approval for eleven miles of singletrack, we’ll be working bring these fresh trails to life over the course of the year. Stay in touch with us for opportunities to help take ownership of the trails and lend a hand. We’ll post trail days throughout the spring, summer, and fall; we need YOU to play a role!

From everyone at the Cadillac Pathway and Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association, thank you for being a part of the trail community. Have a very happy New Year!
