It’s go-time. Want to help us keep improving the Cadillac Pathway? The best way to contribute just so happens to be the most fun! Join us Saturday, September 28 for the Bear Claw Epic!

For locals, the Bear Claw Epic is a very special day. It’s the event that draws mountain bikers of all abilities to play in our sandbox, as it were; this is our home game, and it’s our chance to show off just how much has gone into improving and enhancing the Cadillac Pathway over the past few years. We have an awesome course and one of the best-run events in the state, and there’s a good reason we’ve seen more and more riders use the BCE as the kick-off of their fall campaign heading into the Iceman Cometh Challenge.

This year, Race Directors Dustin Webb and Michele Andrews have worked really hard to make the race even better. A big change for 2019 is an expanded schedule for the races. The different start times will go a long way in reducing lapped traffic; while most of the course allows for passing, those few pinch points will be much less of an issue. Part of the challenges that come with a growing event is making room for everyone, and sometimes that literally comes down to making room on the course!

This year, beginners get first dibs with an 8:30 start time, followed by Intermediate and Sport Riders at 9. The Bear Cub Epic kids’ race takes center stage at 11:30, and the big day is capped off by the Expert and Elite race at 12:15. The expanded schedule also makes it possible to stick around or show up early to root on your pals and all the racers. We take a lot of pride in offering a race that’s challenging to some of the fastest riders in the state while also being accessible for riders racing for the very first time.

The Bear Claw Epic couldn’t happen without the help of dozens of volunteers, plus the generous support of local sponsors that truly value everything the Cadillac Pathway and Bear Claw Epic offer our community. The Pathway is an important place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and support active and healthy people in our area. Register online to save money, and use that spare cash to become an NMMBA member, or even get a head start the season and purchase a grooming badge!
