On August 1st Jared Dunham will be doing another fundraiser to help build more trails at the Cadillac Pathway. Jared’s original ride last year lasted 12 hours, in 2020 he has decided to double that goal and will be on the trail for 24 hours! The previous fundraiser managed to raise $1000, the goal for this year is to raise $2000, all of which are destined to help build our dream trail! With this being said, The Bear Claw Epic is the pathway’s number one provider of funds for all of its projects and resources, however without the event this year, the Cadillac Pathway has an extremely limited budget for purchasing equipment and investing in these 11 miles for the community.
Like a number of other multi-use trails in Michigan, the Cadillac Pathway is actually an old-school, cross-country ski system. These older trails lack any of the modern flare that accompanies trails today such as; singletrack, flow, or unique design. To adapt, homemade singletrack has been added, however, these sections are not legal and can create erosion in the trail system. Also, these portions of the trail are far and few in between with the normal pathway making up the greater portion of the ride.
This new trail will help bring trails that are curated for cyclists to Cadillac and benefit the Bear Claw Epic as well as other events held in the community. So come out and ride the Pathway on August 1st as Jared Tackles 24 hours of trail to help NMMBA. Any contributions to the pathway can be made here. Now go ride your bike!
