NMMBA – Cadillac Pathway Committee were pretty geeked with how our first year turned out for the Winter Sports Trail.  We had visitors from all over Michigan and even had some visitors from Canada! Even though Cadillac Michigan didn’t get hit hard with snow we had enough to groom and have fun on this new trail system.

Our users were primarily fat bikers but we also had trail runners, snow shoes and even skijoring!

We discovered that the most appealing sections were the ones that meandered through the woods and a few features such as our “berm”.  So for the 2017-2018 we wanted to embellish on those things.  We also have considerably reduced the amount of two way traffic.

Literally hundreds of hours have been put into the newly re-designed system between figuring out a new route, working with the DNR to get permission, to marking the course so we can find out way with the grooming equipment after our first snow fall.  The result is that we have almost 90% of our trail system meandering through the woods and we have created a lot of “nested loops” to give you a wide variety of loops to create the distance that is good for you.

Just like our first year the Winter Sports Trail is a separate trail system from our XC Ski Trail.  The Winter Sports Trail is allowed to be used from December 1st to April 1st as long as we have 6  inches of snow on the ground.
